Schneider Electric Family Leave Policy Enhanced To Deliver Superior Work-Life Balance for its Employees

Today in North America, we’re proud to implement the first phase of our new Paid Family Leave Policy. Effective immediately, North American employees will be provided with 100% paid leave to welcome a child into the home.

At Schneider Electric, our technologies ensure that Life Is On for everyone, everywhere, at every moment. Life requires you to be present for your loved ones. We want our employees to be present for their life’s significant moments. That’s why we’ve re-thought our approach to family leave. Introducing our new commitment — a family leave policy that’s inclusive, gender neutral and addresses needs at different stages in your life.

Schneider Electric North America now offers:

  • 12 weeks of fully paid leave for primary care-giver (birth or adoption)

  • 2 weeks of fully paid leave for secondary care-giver (birth or adoption)

  • 1 week of care leave for elderly or critically ill family members (starting January 1, 2018)

  • 1 week of bereavement for immediate family

  • 2 floating days that can be used for cultural activities

What can our North American employees expect?

  • Employees can spend more time with their families for significant life events.

  • Employees no longer have to make a choice between time spent working and time spent with family during their major life events.

  • All Schneider employees* will benefit from this policy equally.

*Applies to all employees who qualify for benefits based on our standard benefits-eligibility requirements and policy eligibility conditions.

The choice is yours. The possibilities are endless.

"Our policies are designed to support our employees to manage effectively their work-life and family needs at different stages in life. These policies support our diverse workforce and allow our employees to contribute their best and make a difference. The well-being of our staff is our highest priority and we’re proud to champion this issue as part of our goal to be best-in-class in every area of our organization."

Why is this important?

Schneider is proud to be the only company in our industry to have made such a significant commitment and we hope the rest of the industry will follow this example. This policy is the first to address the gap between the needs of our employees’ families and the needs of our organization. We believe policies like this will lead us to be a more inclusive and diverse company and ultimately, a better long-term home for our employees.
