How Brianna Took Control of her Flow Career at NeoGenomics

That’s the advice Brianna has for people just starting their careers at NeoGenomics. And she, more than most people, know the value behind her words.

Brianna started at NeoGenomics in accessioning and purchasing in November of 2008. The first half of her day was spent accessioning samples and the second half of her day was spent purchasing and receiving, exposing her to the various processes of the laboratory departments. A little over a year later, Brianna transferred to the Flow team as a laboratory assistant.

During this time, she applied and was accepted to the Clinical Laboratory Scientist program at Florida Gulf Coast University. During her schooling, her supervisor worked with her to adjust her schedule as needed so that she could work full-time while also attending classes and performing clinical rotations at a local hospital. In fact, many employees take advantage of NeoGenomics’ tuition reimbursement programs, which includes tuition reimbursement for approved courses and degree programs at accredited educational institutions to support individual skill enhancement and professional development objectives.

Upon graduation of the program and passing the ASCP exam in 2012, Brianna was promoted to a laboratory technologist in the Flow lab and eventually promoted to lead technologist the following year.

After a couple of year of mastering her craft, in January 2018 Brianna applied for and was promoted to Flow supervisor for both the Fort Myers and Tampa, FL locations. During her time as supervisor, the Nashville Flow analysis pod and the Atlanta Flow lab were established, and she became supervisor of those locations as well.

Finally, in May of 2019, Brianna was promoted to Manager of all Eastern US Flow locations.

While much of Brianna’s success can be attributed to her innate hard work, dedication, passion, skill, and innovation, she also points to the growth opportunities provided by NeoGenomics that helped her advance in her career, including opportunities to shadow departments to find a true fit, work a flexible schedule that allows for schooling, participate in a leadership and development program, and receive day-to-day support from management. Brianna also credits NeoGenomics’ focus on promoting from within the organization.
