Things to Do at Home by Yourself or With Your Family

No matter what your situation is, one thing is certain for most of us—we are spending more time at home than ever before. Whether you live alone or have a full house, we’ve compiled a list of fun things to do at home. For single dwellers, some activities may involve a virtual hangout! 

1. Cook: Challenges friends virtually or compete against family members in a real-life Chopped battle! Make the best meal you can using a limited number of ingredients within a designated time frame. Post pictures of your creations on social media, and ask your friends to vote on their favorite. 
2. Karaoke Night: If you cannot go to karaoke, then bring the karaoke to you! Whether you want to invest in a karaoke machine, karaoke microphone, or just belt out songs at the top of your lungs, everyone will enjoy the momentary spotlight. Bonus: Make up silly dances as you go!
3. Make Homemade Greeting Cards: Many people have paper and markers, colored pencils, or crayons at home – put them to good use and make some greeting cards for friends and loved ones. Drop them in the mail for a nice surprise for the recipient in a few days.
4. Have an Indoor Picnic: Set up some blankets and pillows on the floor, string some lights on the walls, and have an indoor picnic! It doesn’t have to be a special occasion, just pack up a meal and gather around in a special place that you don’t normally eat.
5. Have a Costume Party: Make everyone go to their rooms for 30 minutes and then come back in their best costume! Whether it’s simply dressing up or aligning with a theme, something out of the ordinary will cure the doldrums.
6. Plan Your Next Vacation: Without setting an exact date, pick your next vacation by choosing a destination and then researching things to do in that area. Looking forward to your next adventure is a great way to pass the time!
7. Have a Backyard Camp Out: If you have a backyard, then pitch a tent and grab your sleeping bag for a night sleeping outside. Bonus points if you have a fire pit and can make s’mores!
8. Teach Your Pet Tricks: If you’re at home with your pet, chances are they enjoy having you around more often. Take advantage of this time together and teach him or her a new trick!
