Diversity, Equity & Inclusion at NeoGenomics, Plus the Launch of our Newest Employee Resource Group, We S.T.A.N.D. @ Neo

At NeoGenomics, we embrace and promote diversity, equity & inclusion (DE&I) throughout all aspects of our organization – through our hiring practices and interactions with one another, alignment with our yearly FOCUS, reinforcement of our Core Values, and many ongoing and new initiatives that provide opportunities for team members to learn, contribute, and connect. Examples include the DE&I Discussion Sessions, on-demand training courses, monthly focus topics & celebrations, employee surveys, and our Employee Resource Groups (ERGs). In support of our continued initiatives to strengthen our World-Class Culture and build an environment of belonging and trust through DE&I we are proud to have recently launched Neo’s newest Employee Resource Group (ERG)—We S.T.A.N.D. @NEO!

Short for We Stand Together Against Negativity and Discrimination, the group’s mission is to connect with the diverse community of Neo by fostering networking, professional development, mentoring, and increasing awareness of the history, culture, and challenges of the black and brown community while plotting a path forward toward a more inclusive world with a focus on recruitment, retention, engagement, and learning. The group aims to:

 
Founding members, Perchell, Ernesto, and Orlando quickly got to work in 2020, hosting recruitment talks at two HBCUs—Edward Waters College in Jacksonville, FL and Winston-Salem University in Winston-Salem, NC, with another scheduled at Texas Southern University this month. The group is continuing to make a positive impact already in 2021, celebrating MLK, Jr. Day and Black History Month with activities and education for Neo employees. Earlier this month, they sponsored an informational webinar on the COVID-19 vaccines in partnership with We CARE and ReachUp, two community groups in Tampa, FL that collaborate to bring health equity so every person has the potential to access health care without social barriers or disadvantages. They also aim to bridge the gap from underserved communities and access to care. Next up, We S.T.A.N.D. is hosting a DE&I Discussion Session later this month, covering the topic of Microaggressions.
